What is Mewi?

Where does my data live?
In your browser, on your device — Mewi is local-first. When you enable WiMaan sync, changes travel between your devices end-to-end encrypted; the server only ever sees ciphertext.
Which AI providers work?
Anthropic, OpenAI, and OpenRouter — pick any model from a live, searchable catalog. Your API key is stored only in your browser and calls go directly to the provider. Without a key, Mewi still works: a built-in rule engine and a pattern-based quick harvest cover the essentials.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The graph lives locally, so reading, writing, and triaging work without a connection. Sync catches up when you return.
How do I sync between devices?
Open Commons → WiMaan, choose a name and one passphrase, and upload. On another device, connect with the same name and passphrase and download — the passphrase never leaves your devices.
Can the AI delete my work?
Not on its own. The agent applies creates and updates instantly — each leaves a karmic trace — but every deletion waits for your explicit confirmation in chat. Nothing dies without your seal.
Is Mewi open source?
Yes — the application is licensed under the AGPL-3.0 and its full source is available to you at /source/. The Mewi and Witamala names, the spirit mark, and the Canon are trademarks and creative works of Witamala and are not part of the code license.
